Today
I am grateful for...
...the wind in my hair,
the
damp, green autumn grass under my feet,
the
sunlight streaming through the trees, glinting on the last of the falling
leaves,
the
quiet embrace of the empty woods and the peace that I find there,
the
muddy stream running through the valley,
the
uncut, faded grass in the meadow where wild flowers grow in the summer
and
the ecstatic freedom of my beautiful, bouncing, bounding, young yellow Labrador
as she keeps me company on my walk.
But
most of all I am grateful for the lives and the love of my three beautiful
boys.
Well, all that you mentioned, including the yellow Lab - we actually have two sisters-, although our girls are 11 years old so not so bouncy. I'm also grateful for long-time friends who keep caring about me even though they know all my rough edges. And I am especially grateful that I am still married to my husband after 36 eventful , and sometimes very stressful years.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to look beyond the rubbish that we all have to deal with in life and plug into what is sublime. I am in awe of anyone who keeps a marriage together for so long - tough, but very rewarding!
DeleteI am so grateful for my urchins ( although they are quite grown up ones now) and so many brilliant things that make up my muddled, charmed life.
ReplyDeleteThey are the best thing ever. Try the exercise Laura suggests and see what pops up! x
DeleteLovely list, narrated in quiet eloquence.

Thank you Poppy. I did what Laura suggested and just wrote down what was streaming through my mind. Try it - it is cathartic!
DeleteHello Marianne, what a lovely post. I have just visited a blog friend and learned that she has M.E., I watched a video about the disease, and now I feel very very grateful for my good health, I don't appreciate it nearly enough.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind comments on my blog, wishing you a very happy Thursday, love Linda x
Good to meet you too! Looking forward to reading more, Linda and you are so right - good health is the basis of enjoying a full life xx
DeleteTonight I am grateful for feeling well, having the love of friends and family and for music!
ReplyDeleteSounds good Cait x
DeleteI'm grateful for so much - including having a partner who often performs this 'grateful for' exercise, reminding me to do it too - but today, looking at your lovely yellow dog, I'm rather grateful that my own labrador is black. Doesn't show the mud so much!
ReplyDeleteWell, it's always good to find something to be grateful for Rachel and you are so right about black dogs not showing the dirt, but after 2 black labs, I wanted a change and I love her just as she is!
DeleteLovely sentiments and your girl is a beauty. And Laura always knows how to get the gratitude ball rolling.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely idea, Hilary. Hope you are settling into your new home x
DeleteHello Marianne, thank you for your very kind comments. I have been thinking of having an Etsy shop, but haven't done anything about it yet. Wishing you a lovely weekend, love Linda x
